If you need to send a *.dwg file to someone who doesn’t have AutoCAD loaded on their system, you can download the bloated, official, DWG TrueView from AutoDesk which weighs in at 109 Megabytes. This is a small, fast and light PDF reader that is much more convenient to use than the bloated “official” Adobe reader which weighs in at 20 Megabytes. I recommend it to anybody who says they can’t open a file I sent.
